Anybody who knows me knows that I breathe and bleed The Wire.
Since day one, I have been hooked to this amazing HBO show with an amazingly talented cast, compelling plotlines and the authenticity of Inner City, USA which in this case happens to be the industrial city of Baltimore. It is now in its fifth and final season, a few episodes from concluding forever. It has become cliche for critics to call The Wire the best show on TV and because there's so many magazines and blogs that have delved deep into the creases of the show (Sudhir Venkatesh's NY Times freakonomics blog is my personal favorite), I haven't felt the need to post anything. Until the most recent episode.
Even though overall, this season might rank No. 4 in order from the greatest to the still great but not as great list, it is undeniable that the show's creator David Simon is a genius and his team is too. I don't want to spoil anything if you're one of the millions that still haven't experienced the brilliance of the show, but I did want to link to this moving post on my second-favorite Wire character (second only to shrewd business gangster Russell "Stringer" Bell).

Yo i'm digging that concept of Michael Williams speaking through Omar on a rap album. That's innovative. He was such a complex and dynamic character.
F Stringer... messin with Deangelo girl was foul...
Boog, that's kinda cold. But hey, everyone is entitled to their preferences. Last night's episode had me on the edge of my seat. One more week and this is it. No more wire :-(
